Personal Information Collected Automatically

When you visit or interact with our website, certain information may be collected automatically through Shopify and technologies used by our website.

Customer Accounts

Customers may create and use an account through our Shopify-powered online store.

Account and ecommerce information is processed through Shopify and may also be made available to service providers that support functions associated with your account, orders, or our website.

Marketing Communications

We use Klaviyo to manage our email marketing communications and help us understand how customers interact with our website and marketing.

If you subscribe to marketing communications or otherwise interact with our website, Klaviyo may process information such as your email address, name, other available customer or account identifiers, and your marketing subscription and consent status.

We also synchronize certain ecommerce and customer activity from Shopify with Klaviyo. Depending on your interactions with us, this may include cart and checkout activity, purchases, products ordered, order fulfilment, cancellations, refunds, marketing preferences, and changes to marketing consent.

Klaviyo also provides onsite website tracking. This may collect information about pages or collections viewed, searches, products and product pages, device information, session and page-view information, timestamps, and similar website activity.

We use this information to manage marketing subscriptions, send relevant marketing communications to customers who have consented to receive them, understand the effectiveness of our communications, and improve our website and customer experience.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our marketing communications.

Transactional Communications

We may send transactional communications relating to purchases, customer accounts, or services you request. These may include order confirmations, shipping and delivery updates, pickup-ready notifications, order status updates, account notifications, and other information necessary to manage or fulfill your order.

Transactional communications may be sent automatically through Shopify or other service providers that support our order and customer communication systems. These communications are separate from marketing communications and may still be sent when necessary to provide a service or complete a transaction, even if you have unsubscribed from marketing emails.

Customers may also choose to receive transactional text messages relating to their orders. Big Erics does not currently use SMS for marketing purposes.

Website Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how visitors interact with our website, measure website and purchasing performance, identify technical and usability issues, and improve the customer experience.

Depending on your privacy choices and interactions with our website, PostHog may process information such as:

• Other website interactions
• Products added to cart, including product information and price
• Browser and device information
• IP address and approximate location where enabled
• Session and client identifiers
• Order and product information associated with completed purchases

For customers who are logged into an account, certain analytics information may be associated with customer information such as Shopify customer ID, email address, and name.

Session Recording and Heatmaps

PostHog may also provide session-recording and heatmap functionality that helps us understand how visitors interact with our website.

Session recording may capture interactions such as mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and representations of pages viewed. Form inputs and password fields are configured to be masked by default.

PostHog session recording does not operate on Shopify checkout or thank-you pages based on our current implementation.

Heatmaps provide aggregated information about how visitors click and scroll through website pages.

PostHog is configured as an Analytics service within our website’s privacy controls.

PostHog Cloud used by Big Erics is hosted in the United States, meaning information processed through this service may be processed or stored outside Canada.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the website, remember certain preferences, understand website usage, and support other website functionality.

Depending on the technology and your privacy choices, these technologies may be used for purposes such as:

PostHog uses a first-party analytics cookie and local storage as part of its analytics functionality. The PostHog cookie is configured with an approximate lifespan of 365 days. Klaviyo’s onsite functionality also uses browser-side tracking technologies and identifiers.

Where required, non-essential technologies are controlled through the privacy and cookie choices available on our website. You can use Manage Preferences on our cookie banner to review or change available choices.

Declining non-essential cookies does not prevent you from browsing our website or purchasing products, although certain optional functionality may be affected.

Spam and Abuse Prevention

We use hCaptcha to help protect forms on our website from spam, bots, and other abusive activity.

When hCaptcha is used, it may process information such as your IP address, browser or device information, and other technical information necessary to distinguish legitimate users from automated or abusive activity.

Information processed by hCaptcha is also subject to hCaptcha’s applicable privacy practices and terms.

Third-Party Financing

We may offer financing options through third-party financing providers, including Affirm and Econolease.

If you choose to use a third-party financing option, information required to apply for and process financing may be provided directly to the applicable financing provider and is subject to that provider’s privacy practices.

Big Erics does not receive or control all personal or financial information that you may provide as part of a third-party financing application. We may receive information necessary to process your purchase, administer the transaction, and fulfill your order.

Third-party financing services may also receive limited product or transaction information where necessary to display, provide, or process the financing option you select.

You should review the applicable financing provider’s privacy policy before submitting a financing application.

Payment Processing

When you make a purchase, payment information is processed through Shopify and the applicable payment provider available at checkout.

Big Erics may receive information relating to your payment and transaction, such as payment status and information necessary to process, document, refund, or fulfill your order.

Payment providers may independently collect or process information necessary to authorize and complete your transaction. Their handling of personal and payment information is also subject to their applicable privacy practices.

For example, our Shopify store identifies its data-storage hosting location as the United States, and the PostHog Cloud service used for our website analytics is hosted in the United States.

When personal information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed, including lawful access by courts, law-enforcement agencies, or government authorities.
